A great end to the salmon fishing season on the mighty river Tay . Here is 11 year old Charlie with his first ever salmon it was 14 lb. Charlie took up salmon fishing this year with his dad and has been trying hard to catch his first salmon, he has hooked a few this year that sadly came of but on the last day this one stuck on . I must say after all the effort to get Charlie up to speed it was an absolute privalage  to be with him when he finally landed a salmon . Very Well Done.

Good control on your swing of the fly can be so important in higher water, Using the rod to slow the swing is so important combined with one or two big mends in the line.

The Ivy Tree pool in bigger water today.  In this height it makes it easier to cover fish as it brings the fish closer into your bank even with a fairly short line you will cover fish . The two best bits are at the very top of the pool as shown in the bottom picture. And on the bend at the bottom half going into the top of the Rock pool
